Go ahead and make plans to be in Nashville on Saturday 9.25 for that rare but joyous sighting of those boys known as GROOVEYARD! 3rd and Lindsley, 7:00pm, it's gonna happen. Cow, Reese Wynans, Mike Brignardello, Pat Buchanan, Greg Morrow, and the Musk Horns (Jim Hoke, Steve Herrman, Dennis Taylor). Do you know how rare it is that all these guys are in town at the same time??? Will be a tool for your soul, I promise.

Thank you Rhea and Bert, even though Daddy's passing was so heart wrenching to experience, my memories of him are comforting. Looking back at his life, and hearing stories from his friends, he was truely a mountain of a man. I woke up this morning with a strong desire to read everything he ever read, hear every song he ever played or sang, walk the trails he walked, etc. I think that's good, not possible, but good. I'm very blessed to have had such awesome parents. Thanks again for your sweet kindness.
Cowie, I can't think of a better way to burn the midnight oil. Glad I'm not the only one who does it! BTW ALL of that shit is really awesome. JCB's surface has changed, ebbed and tided but it has always remained the cream of the crop. I remember an earlier line-up, with Pasi, Jeff, Randy, Scott and Luke. CD release @ Tower downtown Nashville and I'll never forget that was the first time I ever heard "Sligo" and it just blew me away. You are, Cowie and have been a part of some of the most amazing and significant music of all time. And you've turned us on to all of them and what they do apart form JCB or NGR or the others. I really admire that those oh-so-talented songwriters, musicians, and producers set their sights on what is good and set out to create the magic with you and beyond. Thanks for turning us on. And yep, you are blessed. Can't wait to see what's down the road. luvya, misS |

Yay, Red! I can't play this, love to sing it. Wendy Waldman is one of my heroes, and to hear her do this is just so amazing....check it out.

VA Yankee:
What a GREAT Song! Fiddling around and practicing guitar today and I think I have all the chords to the song. Nice way to practice... NGR AND I learn the chords to a new tune! I'm not a musician of the caliber of JCow, Bela, Pat or Sam, but it sounds right to me! HA! If you want to PM me your email address, I will send you over the sheet as I wrote it. I wrote out the lyrics with chord above the corresponding word (I know, old school, but I'm a hillbilly and that's how we learned songs growing up.) Good luck! Red |

That song is starting to become one of my favorite songs from the Massenberg Sessions CD.
"Jesus Gave Me Water" and "Black Blizzard" are my two other favorites. Hearing Johnny C singing Acapella is PRICELESS! John--Which song on that cd is one your personal favs and which one do you enjoy singing the most? Thanks -Aaron |

Funny & strange.....
I listened to "Always Take Me Back", "New Tattoo", "John Cowan" & "Friday Night in America" last night (till 5 am!). I thought of Wendy Waldman, Jay Joyce, Randy Kohrs, Barbara Lamb, Scott Vestal, Luke Bulla, Noam Pikelny, Wayne Benson, Pasi Leppikangas, Darrell Scott, Sam, Pat, Bela.... whew Some of that shit is really awesome! Funny how when you step away from something and aren't in the center of it, you actually get some perspective. We've done a lot of good work in out time. I've worked with such crucially talented people. Randy, Pasi, Scott, & Jeff's work on "Always Take Me Back" is brilliant. I've forgotten and don't play more great tunes than a lot of folks have the chance to even create in their lives. The only thing that makes me sad is that so very many great records get made that so few people ever hear. I'm thinkin ours, Andrea Zonn, Kenny Edwards, Wendy Waldman, Sarah Jaroz, Rodney Crowell, Randy Kohrs, & on and on.... Oh well, now I know how McCoy Tyner, Chris Potter, Buddy Guy, Dave Evans, and others feel. Ha! |

Thank you Pam for your kindness! Our "Cowan's" are from Ohio, my grandfather (great, great, great, great) was an officer in the Union Army. Funny since i've been a southerner now since 1966. It's great to have you here. "Keep comin' back!" as we say.
Blessings, jcow |

I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I wish I had some profound words of wisdom to offer or some amazing quote. All I can say is cherish the time you had with your dad and remember all the good times.
